Lesson Structure

For Beginners and Recreational Skaters, we focus on the basics.  I work at the pace of the skater and use different techniques to ensure the skater is having fun while they learn.

Once a skater is comfortable with basic forward and backward skating, I encourage them to join ISI (Ice Sports Industry).  ISI offers a structured test curricula and hosts local competitions. 

This is a great way for skaters to track improvement and have skating goals even if they are not interested in competing.

For my competitive skaters:

• I help skaters learn and practice skills required for the level they will competiting in.
• I can cut music and choregraph their programs.
• I can also help with costume and dress selection.
• During competition, I help skaters get warmed and guide them onto the ice to skate their program.

On occasion, I will team up with other coaches.  One of my co-coaches is my daughter Coach Hailey.  You may skate with her at some point.

In preparation for competition, I will work with other coaches that are specialists in choreography or technical jumps and spins.  As a Primary Coach, I work with the other coaches to help clearly define the role of each coach so that they skaters get consistent skill instruction.
